DESIGN BRIEF: where the wedding-band design spreads the rite across a register, this one lifts the mandap itself to the centre and makes it the architecture of the picture — a tall scalloped green dome on patterned pillars, garlanded, with the seated couple beneath. At medium-light density the pavilion reads as the clear focus and the dancers, drummers and offering-bearers settle into the open cream ground around it. Among the Rathwa of Chhota Udepur the marriage of Babo Pithoro is the climax the sacred wall is vowed to celebrate, so a grand central mandap is faithful to that emphasis. The little parasol figure on the dome and the blue groom on the platform are the anchors the eye keeps returning to.
