The brief was to render the Pattabhisheka as the calm after the whole storm of the Ramayana: not a battle but an enthronement, the moment everything has been working toward. Central-deity composition seats the blue Rama and Sita together at the heart under a tasselled parasol, fly-whisks raised, the symmetry of a court holding the picture steady. We flanked them with Lakshmana and Bharata in profile and set the kneeling courtiers at the right, but kept Hanuman lowest and clearest at the foot, offering one lotus — because in the Odia telling the devotion of Hanuman is the heart of the scene. The geru ground gives it the weight of a coronation.
