DESIGN BRIEF: the brief was a single bold inversion — paint the celestial register as real night, a solid indigo band, so the sun, moon and rows of stars read against darkness while the rest of the wall keeps its warm cream ground. At medium-light density the night band stays clean and graphic at the top, and the cosmology unfolds below it without competing for attention. Among the Rathwa of Chhota Udepur the sun and moon open the sacred wall; setting them in an indigo night gives the sky genuine depth while keeping the gods, the wedding canopy and the village life legible beneath. The contrast of dark band over cream is the whole idea — one decision that organises the entire picture.
