We briefed the Bengali Lokkhi as the household keeps her — golden, seated on her lotus, coins streaming from one palm, the owl that is her vahana standing close. A centred-frontal seat gives her the steady auspicious symmetry of the autumn Lakshmi Pujo image, the two raised lotuses balancing the pouring coins and the cradled pot across her four arms. We crowned her, bordered her golden sari in red and blue, and weighted her with the heavy jewellery of the wealth-goddess, then set the grey owl on a lotus petal at the lower-right — the quiet, watchful counterpoint to all that gold. The ground stays plain so the coins and the lotuses do the talking. Boneless shading rounds her arms and the lotus tiers.
