The brief was the founding subject of the whole tradition: the Jagannath triad, drawn so the three great round-eyed forms read at a glance rather than disappearing under decoration. So we stood white Balabhadra, yellow Subhadra and black Jagannath in a clean symmetrical row at the centre, each with the unmistakable disc-eyes and stub nose, crowned and festooned in hingula and haritala over their rounded bases. A single small devotee with folded hands at each edge gives the scale of worship without crowding, and a red lotus medallion anchors the lower border. We kept the cream ground open because in Puri the deities are read first and adorned second. It is the heart of Pattachitra, drawn for a clear, devotional read in the Odisha line.

  • Natural-oak frame on cream or warm-white walls keeps the three deities reading clean against the patta ground
  • Hang at eye level in a puja nook or hallway where the round eyes meet the viewer head-on
  • The natural anchor for a Jagannath grouping with anasara-pati, garuda-stambha or ratha-yatra-procession
  • Black frame echoes the lamp-black outline and Jagannath's black form in rooms with dark wood
  • Keep adjacent decor calm so the triad stays the focal point
