Pithoro's Wedding — the divine couple in the mandap · classical Pithora ritual-mural print · Rathwa-Bhil folk art of Chhota Udepur, Gujarat

This is the moment the whole wall was waiting for — the god's hands joined with his bride's under the mandap, with the deities riding in to witness it.

The brief was the climax itself: not the procession or the music, but the joining of hands at the heart of the Pithora story. A central-deity layout put the couple under a gabled mandap dead-centre, attendants kneeling close with offering pots, so the wedding reads instantly as the wall's reason for being. Among the Rathwa the marriage of Pithoro is the event the entire painting honours — the wall is vowed to Babo Pithoro and his wedding is its sacred core — so the mandap earns the centre and the calm around it. A clear middle register of mounted deities rides in beneath as witnesses, while the lower forest-and-village band roots the divine event in the world it blesses. Medium-light fill keeps the couple legible and unhurried; the witnesses do not crowd the vow.

  • Natural-oak frame on cream or warm-white walls keeps the mandap and divine couple calm and readable
  • Hang at eye level so the joined hands of the couple meet the viewer first
  • Pair with wedding-pavilion-mandap or baraat-musicians for a Pithora wedding wall
  • Sits well in a puja-adjacent nook or a wedding-gift wall where the divine marriage carries meaning
  • Slim black frame echoes the black outlines in a room with dark wood
