The brief was to give Sabarimala's Ayyappa the seated yogic stillness pilgrims climb forty-one days to reach, not a busy poster. So the figure is one dominant green-bodied deity in the cross-legged posture with the yellow yoga-pattam band looped over the knees — the pose Ayyappa is known by — right hand raised, a single flame prabhavali behind him under a makara-toranam arch. The green body is deliberate: in Kerala's guna code green marks the serene, sattvic divine, exactly the register Ayyappa is loved in. We kept the density medium-light so the eye reads the deity, the reclining tiger that is his vahana, and the two flanking attendants without clutter, with the warm ochre ground left to breathe.
