The brief was the Gond village itself: not a single icon but the everyday life Jangarh Kalam grew out of, told as one calm vignette. So the composition stacks a day — the thatched hut and a woman with her pot, two women working grain at the centre, a man with his cow and calf — above a river band of fish, because in Gond cosmology the village and the water that feeds it belong in the same frame. Every element keeps its own in-fill: thatch-rows on the roof, dot-saris on the women, dot-flanks on the cattle, a dotted river carrying the fish. The fruiting tree with its birds presides over the scene as the village's living centre.
