The brief was movement without drama: the cowherd maidens of Vrindavan walking to the Yamuna with their offerings. Procession-flow was the natural symmetry — four gopis in profile reading left to right, each carrying something, so the picture moves the way a real morning errand moves. We balanced the line with a flowering branch and two peacocks above and an indigo lotus river below, because the sakhis exist inside Krishna's pastoral world even when he isn't shown. Keeping the figures large and the cream ground open lets the procession read as a single rhythm rather than a crowd. It is the quiet, devotional side of Krishna leela.
