DESIGN BRIEF: the brief was protection you can feel at the threshold, so the layout gives two outsized guardian figures the full height of the panel — trident-staffs raised, planted at each side — while the whole household life they protect is worked into the grid between them. We held the inner field to medium fill and kept the fish-net frame bold and open rather than a merged mesh, so the small dancers, the deer, the buffalo and the head-pot women stay legible and the maroon ground still breathes between the rows. The rounded faceless figures are pure Lanjia Saura — bent-knee, bulb-headed, joined hand-to-hand — never Warli triangles, and there is no perspective depth. A protective ikon like this is commissioned after illness or a vow, painted by the kuranmaran to ward sickness from the house; the print wanted that sense of a guarded interior, the two tall figures standing watch over an ordinary, busy life.
