The brief was to honour the hands behind the shringar rather than the deity alone, so the flower mandi itself is the hero: women seated among baskets, weaving the long marigold strings that will end up around Krishna's neck, with the deity kept small and high in his shrine because the work, for once, is the subject. We let the baskets and garland-makers cluster loosely across a deep maroon ground rather than crowding them, so each seller and each heap of blooms stays readable. Marigold, rose and lotus carry the temple's seasonal colour, and the two resting cows and the lotus pond tie the market to the wider Pushtimarg world. It is the secular labour that the formal Nathdwara darshan quietly depends on.

  • Hang on a warm cream or terracotta wall where the maroon and marigold glow
  • Pairs with temple-town-festival-street or haveli-courtyard-evening-aarti for a temple-town wall
  • Natural-oak frame warms the maroon; black frame sharpens the contour
  • Reads well in a dining or kitchen space that welcomes colour
