The brief was the Nathdwara bazaar on a festival day, which is genuinely crowded, told without becoming visual noise: stack it into clear horizontal registers so the eye reads the town a row at a time. The top row is the market lane — sweet stalls heaped with laddoos, garland sellers, pilgrims with thalis, a cow ambling through; below it a small procession past a side shrine; then a cow-herding band; then a quiet lotus-pond foot band to land on. The streets around the haveli really do fill with pilgrims on festival days, and the bazaar is part of the pilgrimage. Keeping the cream ground open between registers lets the town stay legible and warm. Faux-gold on the sweets and temples is flat vivid yellow throughout.
