We briefed Mailara Deva as a central-deity vignette because the pastoral communities who commissioned these caste scrolls wanted their god as he rides — mounted, armed, attended — and a Cheriyal painter seats that hero dead-centre under a parasol. The white rearing horse anchors the panel, the raised sword and the banner giving the martial energy, the shield-and-spear attendants flanking him in balance. We grounded the divinity in the community's own world below: the running dogs that follow Mailara, a piper, and a kneeling shepherd with a white goat. The white horse against the vermilion does the colour work flat, no shading, the old Nakashi way, and the lotus border frames him like a shrine.
