We briefed this as a Khovar bridal-chamber medallion built around a single peacock rather than a busy aviary. The peacock is the courting bird of Khovar marriage walls, so we set it inside an oval creeper ring — the way a bride's chamber frames its luckiest motif — and let the fanned tail do the heavy lifting across the upper half. Combing the tail and breast in fine scalloped rows lets the dark base read as the depth between feathers without a drop of colour, which is the whole grammar of Khovar sgraffito. We kept the corners quiet — two small attendant peacocks above, a deer in each lower corner — so the central bird stays the one thing the eye settles on.
