The brief was to put one of eastern India's most physical dances inside a tradition built on stillness and flat line, without faking motion blur or breaking mineral discipline. Chhau is masked martial dance — Mayurbhanj and Seraikella styles leap, twist and mime combat — so we built the composition on twin-mirror symmetry: two dancers caught at the apex of a leap, mirrored across a central lotus-and-kalash, so the energy reads from the pose and the symmetry rather than from any blur. We kept the crested masks as flat conch-white faces with painted brows, drew the swords as clean curved lines, and grounded the flute player and mardala drummer small in the lower corners so the airborne pair owns the upper field. The cream ground is left wide open, because a leap needs air around it.

  • Natural-oak frame on cream or warm-white walls keeps the hingula costumes and indigo leggings reading true
  • Hang at eye level in a music room or hallway where the mirrored leap reads as movement
  • Pairs with village-jatra-stage, durga-pandal-queue or kartik-purnima-boita for an Odisha performance-and-festival wall
  • Black frame echoes the lamp-black outline in rooms with dark wood
  • Group with other dance and festival fusion scenes at A3 for a performing-arts trio
