Lotus Pink Wall Art

Lotus Pink — 13 museum-grade prints in this palette. Cheriyal scrolls come from Cheriyal village in Telangana's Siddipet district, painted for generations by the Nakashi artist community in flat colour on a red ground; alongside their long narrative scrolls, the Nakashi also painted single deity icons (pata) for household worship. Saraswati — goddess of learning, music and speech — is shown four-armed with the veena, a book or rosary, her hamsa (swan) that mythically separates milk from water, and often a peacock; she is honoured especially at Vasant Panchami. The Kishangarh school flourished in the mid-18th century under Raja Sawant Singh (the poet-prince 'Nagari Das'), whose master painter Nihal Chand fixed the idealized feminine profile now universally called Bani Thani — a name borrowed from a court singer-poet in the raja's circle. It belongs to the Rajput miniature umbrella of Rajasthan alongside Mewar, Bundi, Marwar, Amber and the Pahari Kangra school, all painted in mineral pigments — lapis, malachite, hingul vermillion, orpiment — and ochre 'gold' on burnished wasli paper, in flat symbolic perspective. The Baramasa ('twelve months') pairs each month with a mood of love; Sharad, the clear autumn month, is associated with Sharad Purnima — the harvest full moon held to be the brightest and most auspicious of the year, also the night of Krishna's moonlit raas in Vaishnava lore. This treatment follows the Kishangarh school of mid-18th-century Rajasthan, which flourished under Raja Sawant Singh and his painter Nihal Chand and is known within the Rajput miniature umbrella for refined pastel grounds, lapis skies and idealized cool harmony.
