Planetary Exploration Wall Art

Planetary Exploration — 2 museum-grade prints from the period. Venera 13 and its twin Venera 14 represented the apex of Soviet Venus exploration — returning color panoramas and soil analysis from a world where surface pressure crushes submarines and lead melts. The missions demonstrated that robotic craft could gather science in environments impossible for humans, setting benchmarks for later Venus atmospheric probes and informing radiation and thermal engineering across planetary programs. Mars 3 arrived in the same launch window as NASA's Mariner 9, which became the first spacecraft to orbit Mars weeks earlier in November 1971. The Soviet lander's brief signal — whether cut short by dust storm, crash, or antenna failure — remains debated in space history, yet the soft landing itself was confirmed and the orbiter delivered valuable mapping data.
