DESIGN BRIEF: the brief was the siali leaf-plate craft, the forest-leaf work that turns Bauhinia leaves into stitched plates and bowls, and the trap was the repeated round plate going fussy. We drew each finished plate as a clean white disc with a few radiating rib-lines, then stacked them in tall columns between the seated makers so the craft reads through rhythm — bent stitching posture, leaf piles at the knees, columns of discs rising. We chose harvest-field-rows symmetry so the work sits in honest rows, held the fill medium-light so the deep-maroon ground shows between bands, and refused faces, colour, perspective depth and any machinery. A central tree, head-pot women, dancers and drummers keep the panel Saura first and craft second, the way real Lanjia Saura village panels fold daily work into the same wall as ritual in the Rayagada hills.
