The brief was the Sharad Purnima rooftop custom — kheer set out under the full moon to catch its blessing — told as a calm family icon rather than a busy genre scene. We held the moon and a small dressed Krishna shrine on the central axis, sat the family symmetrically around the pale kheer bowls, and let the diyas and a flat folk Udaipur lake-palace skyline carry the place and hour. Families really do leave kheer under the Sharad full moon, believing the moonlight sweetens and sanctifies it, and that gentle domestic faith is the whole subject. The cool cream ground keeps it a moonlit night without going dark; the moon and bowls glow flat vivid yellow. Peacocks and lotus water tie it to the classical pichwai world.

  • Natural-oak frame on cream or pale walls keeps the moonlit cream ground and yellow kheer bowls soft and warm
  • Hang in a dining room or kitchen where the family-food ritual reads in context
  • Pairs with sharad-purnima-moon for a Sharad-festival pair (the raas night and the family rooftop)
  • Avoid a bright saturated wall — the cool cream ground wants a calm backdrop
  • Set beside thakurji-home-shrine for a home-devotion grouping
