We briefed Patang Terrace as a stacked-strip the way Cheriyal stacked registers — two rooftops, one above the other, each a small scene — because Sankranti is a vertical festival, fought and won in the air above the parapet. The cleverest part of the fusion was the sky: rather than paint a blue, we let the kites climb straight into the vermilion ground so the red becomes the Makar Sankranti sky. The manja spools, the laddoo plates and the little parapet bonfire are the day's real props in flat colour, and the upturned faces give both registers the same upward pull. Medium fill keeps the red open between the rooftops so the kite lines stay legible.
