DESIGN BRIEF: The brief was to make cricket equipment read as a folk hero motif without turning the canvas into a sports poster pasted inside a decorative frame. Bharni made sense because stumps, bat, and ball need bold readable silhouettes—the same flat vermillion and lampblack fills Brahmana women once used for deities and wedding Kohbar panels. Central-medallion symmetry solves the layout problem: wickets belong at the ritual centre like altar posts; a diagonal-flow batsman would feel like action photography, whereas a circular vignette with radial petal ring treats the pitch as sacred ground the way Aripana floor diagrams hold a ceremony. We kept the stumps vertical and banded with miniature arch-and-buti patterns so they echo pillar grammar from classical walls, leaned the bat as a single narrative diagonal for movement, and reduced Eden Gardens energy to a dot-matrix crowd arc plus twin floodlight lattices—enough stadium atmosphere for Kolkata without breaking folk flatness. Marigold ochre pitch fill anchors the fusion to festival garland colour and harvest ground, not broadcast-green turf.

  • Natural-oak frame on cream or warm-white walls — terracotta petal ring and mustard pitch stay true without yellowing the ground
  • Hang at eye level in a den or dining nook where the circular medallion can centre above a sideboard — radial symmetry rewards centred placement
  • Pair with tram-kolkata-fusion or dabbawala-mumbai-fusion from the same Madhubani fusion catalog for an urban-India wall progression
  • Avoid placing directly beside hyper-saturated green turf posters if you want mustard ochre pitch to read as folk pigment not broadcast grass
  • Stack A3 beside auto-rickshaw-delhi-fusion or kite-festival-fusion for a movement-and-ritual trio at desk height
  • Black frame echoes lampblack stumps and double outlines — use when the room already has dark wood furniture
