Rank 19 in the Aviation Heroes collection, this print centres VF-31 Tomcatters — the last US Navy squadron to fly the Grumman Tomcat in fleet service before the type retired in 2006. The F-14D Super Tomcat block married digital avionics to the AWG-9 radar's long-range intercept pedigree and the variable-sweep wing that made the Tomcat unmistakable on a carrier deck. Tomcatters closed the Tomcat's Navy chapter from NAS Oceana, including CVW-8 deployments aboard USS Theodore Roosevelt that collectors still chase in profile-print catalogues.
