The brief was to take the Kangra Sawan mood — the monsoon month the old Baramasa used for a lady aching for her absent lord — and flip its feeling without breaking its grammar. So the season stays: the silver rain, the bending plantain, the green hills, the watching figure on the veranda are all classic Sawan motifs. What changes is the heart of it — instead of longing, there is the simple joy of children floating paper boats in a flooded courtyard while the grandmother keeps an eye from the dry veranda. We kept the courtyard a single calm flooded plane and the cast to four so the scene reads as a real monsoon afternoon, not a crowded festival, and let the peacock and plantain carry the season the way they always have.
