The brief was a translation problem, not a startup poster: how does a Bangalore co-working cafe — barista bar, round tables, loungers, communal bench, delivery-adjacent bicycle — read inside Warli white-line grammar without collapsing into the tourist default of huts plus tarpa spiral plus chauk mandala all at once? Forest-scatter symmetry was the layout fix. Remote work happens in overlapping pockets, not a single ritual circle, so laptop clusters, espresso counter, and lounge breaks scatter across the ochre ground like clearings in a Warli forest rather than stacking in horizontal bands. What we refused: concentric dance rings, perspective café depth, brand typography on mugs, and multicolor Madhubani fills. What we kept legible: laptop as two thin rectangles hinged open, espresso machine as chauk-scale box with spout, round tables as gathering circles without becoming tarpa, and dog plus cow as village fauna wandering through the coworking scatter so the piece stays Warli village narrative first, WeWork second.
