The Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari opened in 1953 in the rolling hills east of Bologna, named for Enzo Ferrari and his son Dino. Formula 1 arrived in 1980 and Imola quickly became the San Marino Grand Prix — Italy's second home race, wedged between Monza's straight-line theatre and the raw elevation changes that define Tamburello, Villeneuve, and the climb through Piratella.
