It forms the quantitative backbone of IAF air superiority and strike planning. The HAL Tejas Light Combat Aircraft entered Indian Air Force squadron service on 1 July 2016 with No. 45 Squadron Flying Daggers at Bangalore — the first operational Tejas unit in the world.
